How to block/unblock usb storage device at office/school

In this tutorial I will show you a very simple way to disable/enable usb at office/school, both of the sides can use it for their purposes as far as other part won’t know about it :)

How to disable/block usb storage device a step by step method

  1. Click Start in Windows TaskBar, and then click Run or use shortcut [ WindowsKey+R ]
  2. In the Open box, type regedit [ this command is used to open windows registry editor ]
  3. Now simply locate, and click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
    In the rightpanel you will find some options like [Deafult,DisplayName,ErrorControl,ImagePath,Start], click on ‘Start’
  4. Now In the Value data box, type 4 [ to block] and click Hexadecimal in base field
  5. Here we go, quit the registry editor. Now the USB has been blocked

How to enable/block usb storage device
Follow the same above listed method till “Step -3 “, In Step-4 simply set the value 3 in Value Data Box which is for unblock/enable.

This method don’t require any system restart, so you can disable/enable your usb drive without restarting Windows.
