HDFCBANK is Pathetic : My open letter to HDFC MD Mr. Aditya Puri
HDFC, if you reading this I have a service request ’HBL=013-774-453‘ open.. I appreciate if someone really take sometime and resolve it asap.. but I know you don’ care… I also don’t have patience to tell you my problem .. so please read it below

Dear Mr Puri,
Every year HDFC Bank wins lots of prizes, I am not sure about what was the criteria that you guys able to grab it.. but as one of your old customer I feel HDFC Bank is most pathetic bank of India. The banking experience with HDFC is frustrating, irritating.. HDFC Bank staff is most unresponsive, bureaucratic and customer unfriendly .. You are doing so bad that I don’t have words to express my anger.. The service of SBI and other Govt controlled banks is better and customer friendly…than HDFC
I have been HDFC Bank Classic customer ( There is nothing classic… just a term to fool you ) for more than 3 years, and the relationship manager convinced me to to use each and every service of HDFC … I opened savings account, DMAT, FD, RD, Kids account, Credit Cards, HDFC Infra Bonds, blah blah for all my family members.. hoping that this is the Bank I was looking for.. but unfortunately it was an illusion…. As a classic customer there is nothing you get.. only loose , even I have opened the savings max ( one of the premium account ) and here also there is nothing max and just a lock of money… You can get all these features with other banks with just maintaining few bucks and they are transparent in what they do… The same happened with me.. After using other banks (Citi, SBI, ICICI )…. I decided to get away from HDFC Bank and made a mind to close everything with HDFC.. here are the few things which forced me to do so
* No value for money ( The high balance you maintain )
* Hidden charges ( For making DD it is free but cancelling is costlier than making.. lot other )
* There is nothing like internet banking.. for everything you have to go to Branch ( Activate third party, email, mobile registration , deactivation and activation of services or anything) .. and on that the staff won’t listen.
* The Worst staff .. from Peon to Manager all are from same well.. they just smile.. don’t work ( Bureaucratic ).. no token system in branch.. any high profile customer or new customer will come and they won’t care for you and your time
* Most of the times HDFC Internet banking is down for maintenance
* False/Failed ATM transactions ( The money will be deducted from your account and you won’t receive it).. for me in a single day three high amount transactions failed and I was without money for a month .. and they didn’t reimburse the compensation as per RBI policy ( stupid excuses )
* Fewer ATM’s and most of the time exhausted
* You can’t see statement for more than 6 moths online and offline there are charges ( Now they corrected a little bit this thing but still it is not customer friendly)
* They don’t send email statements on time ( Email and Snail mail )
* No value for your time and Money
* Forex rate is not competitive
* There are lot more.. but I suggest you not to experience it
* If you want to close any HDFC service , feature .. they made the procedure so hard .. that you will cry
* Credit cards are worst ( foolish offers ), for bonus and reward points, no competitive offerings
So I decided to close the relationship with them.. HDFC is against Mother Nature.. no care for nature.. . you need to go to branch for everything you want to do and fill different forms on different sheet of papers.. funny… There is separate form to close savings account, separate to stop every feature they provide along with savings account (ECS, Sweepin, RD, FD, CC Link) .. even SBI has one single form to close the complete relation with them..
I was not in my home town (base branch) … so I have to go to nearest branch to do it.. I filled the form.. signed it and got the acknowledgement that it will be closed in 10 days.. and I asked my parents to do the same with their accounts also.. but after 15 days nothing happened… HDFC lost the form.. for me and also for my parents .. looks like some one from their staff has used it as a tissue paper to clean their nose…. No value for customers time .. I wrote them an email and my home branch manager called me… I have to tell him the full story and he told that he is looking on it.. later I got a call from the local branch and that lady was more eager to close the service request than solving my problem.. nothing worked.. I called my home branch manager again.. and he was asking me that what he can do.. irresponsible .. later he told that he is going to talk to the local branch manager to resolve it and it’s been three days since then and no response.. they are just playing basketball and putting the balls in each others court.
So this is my sincere advice to Mr. Puri that you yourself try other banks account and see how much customer friendly they are… you will start hating HDFC… I had one account in SBI and it took flat 15 mins to close that and I got the remaining refund on the spot.. no hassles.. I have bank accounts with ICICI , CITI , Standard Chartered and they are just awesome.. there internet banking facility just works… you will get whatever they say but I can say that I am the most unsatisfied customer of HDFC Bank.. please comment below for the complaints and your experience with HDFC..
