Wordpress 2.9 released

According to blog post on WordPress.org, Wordpress has released the new Wordpress 2.9 version of self hosted blogging platform. This new release code has been named as “Carmen” in honor of magical jazz vocalist Carmen McRae.

The new features in WordPress 2.9 are

undo/trash, that means if now you have deleted anything accidentally there is no need to worry as you can undo it from trash. Built in Image editor – So no need to install any third part plugin as you can do basis image editing in Wordpress itself. batch/group plugin update, update number of plugins in a one shot.

Other some of the cool things are ; now it supports better SEO (rel=canonical), Theme post image thumbnails (better for magazine style theme, no need to write any specific code for it),pull attachments from your post so you can better organize your data by this you can create custom galleries,SSL support.

We will post more in-depth analysis as our in-house developers are playing around it. We suggest novices or less techie Wordpressers to wait for a while before upgrading to Wordpress 2.9 as it may break your blog due to plugin and theme compatibility.

Youtube announces to add support for 1080p videos i.e. Full HD videos, the maximum resolution that any device is supporting till now. It will be now a great fun to show and share your good pictures and skills with other in the way as you want, of course if your device supports Full HD.

1080p videos

These is the current highest resolution supported and is referred as full HD or full high definition. 1080 refers here for 1080 horizontal lines constituting vertical resolution, in short you can interpret, greater the resolution, greater the number of pixels and hence greater image quality. And p is for progressive screen videos, which are better than TV quality videos.

It is expected, that Youtube adds 1080p video support to its HD mode, by next week starting. Youtube is also in process of reformatting the already uploaded Full HD videos. Have a great fun watching !!!

Desktops for just Rs 3000

Nivio technology firm announces the soon release of low- cost desktop for just Rs 3000/ in partnership with airtel. The Rs 3K desktops are hoped to be launched by the end of this month.

The details are not shared yet by Sachin Duggal the CEO and President of Nivio but it can be inferred from such low price that it will be based on cloud computing. But definitely it is going to help technology awareness.
It feels like unbelievable so soon but lets watch and hope it is not a prank this time.

Google adds to library of OOP language by release of its lightweight opensource programming language GO. Pointing to the fact that “Computers are enormously quicker but software development is not faster”, Google embraces following features within GO:

It is FASTER comparable to C or C++ code
lightweight
Provide support for multi-processing
And after all it is open source

Google defines Go as an attempt to combine the ease of programming of an interpreted, dynamically typed language (such as Python and JavaScript ) with the efficiency and safety of a statically typed, compiled language(such as C++ or Java).

Something that you will like in it

a. Auto formatting with gofmt program
b. avoids much of the overhead of C-style include files and libraries.
c. There is NO POINTER ARITHMETIC
d. It provides an interface for calling C- written libraries from GO

It is quiet a part same a C but still a lot different. While and Do loops go exit but a multiplexer selector control structure adds. A lot more changes but better explore more yourself for GO programming.

Google now on: viewing PDF documents online made easy

Google now steps from “View as HTML” to “Quick View” link to PDF’s to make browsing experience more quick and easy. The “Quick View” option is similar to “”View as HTML”, in that, it allows to view the online PDF’s and other online documents in HTML format without having to download.

But in “View as HTML”, we have to compromise for formatting and graphics. ” Quick view” link displays the PDFs without any change in graphics, formatting and tables. It easies the navigation through pages, similar to viewing PDF’’s in acrobat reader. It opens it in Online Google Doc Viewer.Currently this feature is only for PDFs, Google will be adding this link to other types of online doucments.

So now there is no need to download PDF’s, read it online. Kudos! Google

However, you may not be able to view currently for all PDFs as it not rolled out completely.
