PayPal reply on Virtual Credit Card Verification

2009 June 21
by editor

Earlier I have written a post on PayPal Verification with Virtual Cards.

Yesterday I got a reply from PayPal stating

PayPal does not recommend adding a gift card, prepaid card, virtual card, or one-time use credit cards to your PayPal account. Although some of these cards may be accepted, most will not function correctly with our system due to the security checks we have in place. PayPal is not an online store, where these types of cards were intended to be used, and in order to properly facilitate our service, the traditional credit card or debit card is preferred.

So it is clear that PayPal doesn’t recommend  Virtual Credit Card for account verification and using  such tricks may violate PayPal policy , they have rights to suspend or terminate your account anytime .

Disclaimer : The above is based on my understanding of the PayPal reply and their terms. I may have misinterpreted some of the lines so please consult PayPal for more informtaion on it.

    I was searching for information on VCC and landed on your Blog and after reading the information which you have given I am now having a doubt in using HDFC Netsafe or ICICI E-Wallet for verifying , may be it will not be a good idea to do so .

    @Aryan

    I think both are valid as far as this is just verifying your account (My opinion), but if you want to use PayPal for adding money or transferring money from your CC then ewallet is best option.

    Netsafe is valid only for one time transaction so you can’t add money to PayPal as, as soon as PayPal charge it for verification it get deactivated. I hope you are getting my point
