After WordPress install tips tricks and plugins – Part 1

2009 June 24

There are so many blog posts stating, 20 OR 10 OR 5 things to do after WordPress install.  I am writing here what I have done after my WordPress installation .The first thing I thought  was my site look ,I know a bit coding. So I started working on my template but it  is still under construction.  I love simplicity , so I tried it to looks like WordPress Admin Panel.

Now it was time to extend the functionality of WordPress by plugins.  I installed following plugins on my site

Akismet -it hates and fights with spam
Adsense Injection – to show Google ads in my posts  ( I am using only three adsense blocks on a page as per adsense T & C ), it is best plugin to show random ads. Let’s see how much money I make with this blog ????? ;)
Google XML sitemap – for automatic sitemap generation
Platinum SEO pack – hope search engine will love my site, it has lots of more options then All in One SEO pack
SEO slugs – to strip common words like “what”, “you” or “can” out of my post slug to make it more search engine friendly
No self pings – I hate own trackbacks and pings
WP no category base – to remove “Category” base from url, it looks good
Permalink redirect – to get rid of duplicate content and old url’s, this plugin is awesome
Contextual related post – it helps to decrease site bounce rate
WordPress Database Backup – I need security

I think this is enough for now, I will discuss more in Part- 2 of this post…Keep watching

One more plugin which I will highly recommend will be maxblog press ping optimizer. Editing or updating your old blog post might make your wordpress blog a ping spam.

Meanwhile following you from your comment on my blog, nothing too hurt you, but change your wordpress theme. There are so many good and free theme around here. Your content is good, but it’s like you going for a meeting without wearing a suit. Design creates the first impression.

    Don’t take my comment otherwise..
